-- Mr. Zhu's Remarks of The 6th China International Exhibition for Roofing & Waterproofing Technology (R&W 2008)
From June 12 - 14 , The 6th China International Exhibition for Roofing & Waterproofing Technology (R&W 2008) was held in Shanghai International Exhibition Center. All the events held during R&W 2008 and the images displayed by all the exhibitors showed a healthy and promising development atmosphere of building waterproofing industry, which also involved hard work from the Organizer¡ªChina National Building Waterproofing Material Industry Association.
Indeed, the 12,000 square meters of Shanghai International Exhibition Center was divided into booths, big and small, representing 160-plus enterprises from14 countries and regions. All the invitations, layout, booth designs, schedules of almost 1,000 certified architects and their seminars consist of a huge system, of which a single missing link could lead to failure. The reporter interviewed Mr. Zhu Dongqing, Chief Architect of R&W 2008 and President of CNWBMIA.
Mr. Zhu commented with firm attitude, " This is a very successful event. " Then, he added, the success of an exhibition depends mainly on Four aspects.
The first one is scale. The exhibition area of R&W 2008 increased from 8, 000 to 12,000 square meters, with all the booths sold out.
Second is presentation form. R&W 2008 arranged many specifically targeted seminars to meet certain demands. For example, seminars organized for high-speed railway and bridge construction demand£»certified architects seminars for Shanghai Expo 2010. Besides, during these seminars some enterprises like Beijing Oriental Yuhong launched 10 new products, displayed on their exhibition tables, which was a very clever way of combining their technologies with their products and a win-win case for exhibitors and visitors.
Third is content. R&W 2008 has drawn well-know brands, home and abroad, representing the latest technologies and products of world-class level. It embodied the technology and competitive strengths.
Fourth is popularity. More than 10,000 professional visitors attended R&W 2008, investigated new products and technologies and found their needed materials. R&W 2008 also saw many professional visiting groups, both domestic and foreign. For example, there were one industry group from Xinzheng City, Henan Province and one of teachers and students from Waterproofing and Construction major, Hubei University of Technology. Mr. Feng from Beijing Branch of Koelnmesse, visited R&W 2008 and rated it as good after he observed on the spot and saw the statistics from the entrance guard system.
Based on these four analyses, The 6th China International Exhibition for Roofing & Waterproofing Technology (R&W 2008) is a very successful one, with the following five highlights.
Highlight One is pertinence of products and technologies on the show. Due to the particularity of road bridges, especially those of high-speed railways, there are special requirements for waterproofing materials. Recent years, R&D of waterproofing materials specified for road bridges has become one of the hottest spots in the field. For example, Beijing Oriental Yuhong produced high tenacity two-component polyurethane waterproofing coatings, Shandong Dynamic launched SBS waterproofing felts and CPE felts, Soprema delivered super-long waterproofing membranes, and Vedag displayed waterproofing technology applications in High-speed light railways, etc. All these have been certified by relevant departments and in practice. Meanwhile, there are a series of products and technologies specifically for Shanghai. Take Flat-to-slope Roof Modification Project in Shanghai for instance. R&W showed Light Slope Roofing System, an achievement of National 11th Five-year Science and Technology Supporting Plan; also, to meet the rising greening of building roofs in Shanghai, many enterprises displayed their planted roofing systems.
Highlight Two is the number of professional visitors. R&W 2008 held 18 professional seminars. Especially, one for the high-speed passenger railway waterproofing and three for certified architects have drawn large crowds of professional. They were so popular that tickets are so hard to get. After these, they always visit the booths, start talks and ask for more information, which makes our exhibitors satisfied.
Highlight Three is component combination energy-saving. Many enterprises have adapted their products and technologies to the current demand of building-energy saving. For example, polyurethane rigid foam waterproofing and insulating integration materials of Beijing Sanli and others, heat reflection materials of Rohm and Hass, high performance spraying polyurea elastic bodies, material-saving and fast construction of single roofing technology, etc, all these have proved waterproofing enterprises can play a big role in building energy-saving.
Highlight Four is internationalization. Many famous international companies have been trying to grab the local market of China, which improves international awareness of R&W. R&W 2008 has drawn 160-plus exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, including Firestone, Soprema, R&D, Sika Sarnafi, Vedag, and Grace, which are old friends of R&W, and BASF, Bayer, Rohm & Haas, and DuPont made their debut. This has proved that China International Exhibition for Roofing & Waterproofing Technology through its six years¡¯ development has enjoyed increasing international reputation, which was also seen through the participation of NRCA, GRCA, JRCA, Waterproof Technical Association of Taiwan, China, etc.
Highlight Five is the outshining of single roofing products and technology. Single roofing technology has been playing an important role, grabbing a major market share. Compared to traditional roofing waterproofing technology, it can save materials and deliver fast construction. Recently, it has gained fast development through a large amount of successful engineering applications in China. Thus, it was the focus during R&W 2008.
Talking about R&W, Mr. Zhu wants to give full expression. Due to a tight schedule, last but not least, he emphasizes that R&W will become increasingly more innovative and attractive and wishes an even wonderful success.
